SEVOFLURANE
Sevoflurane is the first ether anesthetic to rival halothane as the anesthetic of choice for infants and children. Among its characteristics, the combination of nonirritation of the upper airway and low blood and tissue solubilities sets sevoflurane apart from other inhalational anesthetics. Sevoflurane is a preferred anesthetic agent for induction and maintenance of pediatric anesthesia because of its rapid induction and recovery characteristics, lack of pungency and agreeable odor, and acceptable cardiovascular profile.
